About Turkey
Turkey is one of the countries in the Eurasian region and its largest part is located in West Asia and a smaller part in Southeastern Europe. The country's capital is Ankara, and its important cities include Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, Adana, Antalya, Konya, and Gazi Eintab.
It is the sixth-largest country in the world with an area of 783 thousand and 360 kmA² and is the 16th largest in the world with a population of around 80 million and 810 million.
Turkey extends from the northwest with Greece and Bulgaria to the northeast with Georgia, to the east with Armenia, the autonomous Republic of Iran, Iran to the south, and the Aegean Sea to the south and the Black Sea to the south, and from the south to the Mediterranean Sea.
Turkey is bordered by Iran, Nakhchivan, Armenia, and Georgia from the east. From the south with Iraq and Syria; also It is bordered by Bulgaria and Greece from the northwest (European part). Turkey also has a sea border to the north with the Black Sea, two small seas of Marmara and Aegean to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the southwest. Turkey also has two strategic Straits of the Bosphorus and Dardanelles.
Turkey is a mountainous and relatively rainy country. The shape of the country is like a rectangle that is extended from east to west. Turkey, by locating in one of the most sensitive regions of the world, has a very good strategic geographical location and is considered a crossing of northwest Asia and Europe, and many countries.
Many countries, especially Iran, use Turkish soil for the transit of goods and energy. Turkey has a pleasant climate and has interesting and spectacular places to travel to the country due to the same annual number of tourists.
The official language of the country is Turkish and Kermanj and Kurdish languages are also spoken in some areas. Religion comprises the majority of the country's population with 83% Islam, followed by Christianity with 2%. The type of government in Turkey is a centralized republic, and the government is made up of separate forces. The official currency is also called the lira (₺).
